Department Overview
Credit Risk IT is responsible for Barclays Capital's Credit Risk Systems.

Department Overview
Credit Risk IT is responsible for Barclays Capital's Credit Risk Systems. It is involved in the implementation and enhancement to the Monte-Carlo simulation based credit risk calculation and management system. The current system was developed over a 5-year period and was successfully released to a global user base of over 2000 users. This role will be involved in the project to design and build a strategic replacement for this system.

Main Function
The candidate will be the business analyst for the project working with Credit Risk Managers, Exposure Managers and Credit Risk Analysts in New York to define, refine and document business logic for the new system. The candidate will also need to work collaboratively with developers building prototypes to demonstrate and prove out the business requirements.

Main Duties
Working directly with business users the BA will support the clarification of business logic to be implemented in a prototype by a developer. Concurrent to implementation of the prototype, the BA will document this logic and design test cases to demonstrate effectiveness of the logical design under real data. The BA will execute these test cases, analyse results and present both the test and implications to the business as relevant business use cases (rather than technical IT tests). Further into the of the project the BA will transition into a subject matter expert on the requirements as well as driving the direction of the test planning for final delivery of the system.

Person Requirements
The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to translate technical descriptions into the language of the Credit Risk business users (and vice versa). In particular, highly effective verbal and written communication will be considered a key differential for a candidate. The ideal candidate will have experience of Credit Risk in investment banking and knowledge of Monte Carlo methods used for exposure calculations in Credit Risk Management. A strong candidate will have a firm grasp of financial engineering and will be comfortable with a wide range of products traded by a first tier investment bank. The ability to work with and analyse large amounts of data using either office tools or databases is also considered a key factor for the candidate.
