Credit Underwriting is responsible for executing the credit strategy and managing the relationship for international customers where Banking extends credit. The Credit Underwriter independently manages a large portfolio of clients (mainly Financial Institutions) representing some of the more complex credit issues. The position requires decisive credit judgment and strong communication & presentation skills. The responsibilities including concise, accurate and timely written analysis, review and presentation of credit requests for approval, negotiation of loan documentation with legal and ongoing real-time monitoring and reporting of client/market/industry risks and trends. The Credit Underwriter will also be responsible for forecasting future changes/trends in ratings (credit quality) of the client and for timely recommendations of changes in target exposure and industry credit exposure. Relationship Management goals include maintaining a high level of client satisfaction and the preservation and growth of cross sell through coordination with the responsible product and client management areas (including team meetings, account planning and customer communication/presentations, as appropriate) while minimising the extension of credit. This requires developing a solid understanding of Banking’s product capabilities and the overall Banking relationship with the customer, including recommendation of the optimal exposure target. The ability to effectively interface/communicate with internal management, including DPMs, Country Managers and Client Executives in the Asia region, and Relationship Managers across all Lines of Business is key. In addition, good communication skills will be required in order to interact with executives and management of the external customer, Banking Sector product areas and Banking exposure/credit approval committees. - Minimum experience of 7-10 years in lending and/or relationship management/selling experience in the financial or professional services industry. - Proven track record in managing complex relationships and assisting with facilitating revenue growth. - Strong credit judgment including the ability to analyse market data and ascertain credit quality impact. - Excellent written/verbal communications skills, knowledge of Banking’s products and ability to develop value propositions for customers. - Bachelors degree in Finance / Accounting or equivalent required/MBA preferred or equivalent. - Credit Training is a pre-requisite.
