Standard & Poor's is seeking a Manager Application Development that will lead a team that is responsible for designing, building and maintaining a strategic Enterprise Data Management (EDM) & Integration platform that supports Standard and Poor's Ratings applications and external products. This is a leadership position in the Data Services Information Technology group that is responsible for strategic data platforms supporting the $1B Ratings Services business. This position leads a team of 2-5 professionals including direct staff, consulting and offshore resources, and reports to the Senior Director of Data Services in New York, NY.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage data component development, programming, and testing efforts in support of business application and product initiative
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of functionally complete, tested, and integrated data components. Coordinate services provided by other data groups, and integrate data activities into broader project plans to deliver on schedule and within budget
  • Build and maintain strategic data platforms that provide data that is accessible, timely, and consistent across traditional business lines
  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of a long-term data technology strategy
  • Plan and prioritize activities and staffing to support several concurrent business unit initiatives

Skills

  • Strong management skills, with 10+ years experience as a development manager in a diversity of complex multi-system environments
  • Reference Data Architecture experience in building tools that enable the management & integration of Master Reference Data within a Financial Services firm.
  • Enterprise Data Management experience supporting a Security Master or a Business Entity Master
  • Strong project management skills across the full development, QA, and maintenance lifecycle
  • Strong technical background in complex system design and system integration
  • Broad technology experience in database development, data integration, business intelligence, and web solutions
  • Success managing in a matrix organization, with proven facilitation, network, and team-building skills
  • Financial Services experience preferred
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • A track record of innovation and leadership
  • Experience leading a geographically distributed team
  • CMM/SEPG or similar process improvement experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • ETL, Oracle, PL/SQL experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience; MS in Computer Science highly desirable
