SUMMARY: Responsible for trading municipal bonds for a profit via ECNs which include Bonddesk, TradeWeb, Knight Bondpoint and TMC and any new systems as determined by our client. Responsible for research, competitive analysis, distribution, presentation and execution of fixed income transactions. Must have deep understanding of markets and credit risk. Prospect and build relationships with primary and regional dealers to effect transactions. Continue to study the developments in the marketplace and be able to effectively communicate the technical issues that affect the purchase and sale of securities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include: - Achieving financial goals as set by trading management by focusing trading for profit on municipal bonds
- Identify opportunities as well as quantify fair market values within sectors of the market
- Monitor positions and maximize P/L for the trading account while maintaining compliance with internal procedures as set forth
- High degree of energy, concentration and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Learning and adhering to compliance and trading procedures of the firm
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics and three years or more of related experience in fixed income trading. Series 7 and 63 licensing required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as bonds, financial market indices, rates, articles, contracts, instructions and reports; Superior verbal communication skills, specifically breaking down complex analytical information into the sales process. Negotiation skills are a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, premiums, interest rates, commissions, markups, proportions, percentages, and amortizations (basic bond match skills). COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in MS Office products with a focus on Outlook and Word; Experience in Excel. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to in-house proprietary trading programs and other systems as necessary; Expertise in Bloomberg, knowledge of CMS Bondedge helpful; Experience with Bondesk, Knight Bondpoint , Tradeweb and TMC a plus.
