ASA Recruitment's client, a prestigious, international firm supplying business services is seeking to expand their life actuarial team across the UK and Europe. As an Actuarial Manager, they are seeking individuals who will actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships. These individuals will also: Identify potential business opportunities, create innovative commercial insights for clients, adapt methods and practices to fit operational team and cultural needs, and contribute to thought leadership; actively contribute to improving operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives; consistently drive projects to completion and make sure that work delivered is of a high quality. Under the guidance of seniors, the successful candidate will lead teams or parts of teams on engagements, depending on the size of the engagement. A clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, and escalating issues as appropriate is also required. Technical skills requirements: Actuarial Managers will be expected to develop a number of areas of technical excellence. Participation in the research and development required to support the growth of these fields of expertise and well as responsibility for the management of these key projects to clients is essential. The fields of excellence typically cover technical skills in a number of the following areas: • Pricing • Liability Valuation & Reserving • Capital and Risk Management • Asset Liability Matching • Mergers & Acquisition Advice • Shareholder Value • Economic Value Management • Claims Advisory Services • Customer Analytics • Pensions Strategy • Pension Liability and accrual valuation Such technical expertise being used to: • Contribute to development of EY capability in these area • Engage with clients regarding the application of these methodologies to their business • Additional skills requirements • Track record with a blue chip consulting firm and/or a blue chip firm • Developing industry profile through client and industry activities • Experience in business development • Strong academic record including a degree and professional actuarial Client responsibilities • Participate in Actuarial engagements • Assist in managing the financial aspects of engagements by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders • Participate in business development initiatives Build strong internal relationships within Advisory and across other services People responsibilities • Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff • Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting, retaining and training actuarial professionals • Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills • Able to manage and work effectively in teams • Professional attitude/demeanour, honesty • "Self starter" with pro-active approach • Strong project and people management skills Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures.
