Interactive Data is a leading global provider of mission-critical financial information, including market-data, securities pricing (including evaluated pricing) and analytic tools to financial institutions, active traders and individual investors.
We are looking for several hard-working and enthusiastic Software Developers in our White Plains, NY office and in London. Recent College Graduates are welcome to apply! We offer a fantastic opportunity to learn the real-time market data industry, and work with a highly skilled team of developers.
Working to support our Feeds business, you will participate in the planning, mapping and programming of critical real-time applications – interfaces and software for the acceptance of financial data provided by worldwide suppliers (e.g. stock exchanges). You will program time critical applications which run 24/7, with as many as 10,000 data updates per second by utilizing a range of data reports in binary and other formats.
You will gain understanding of and map financial market instruments (stocks, bonds, derivatives) which are depicted in our data streams and trading models on different proprietary database systems. You will contact data suppliers to clarify queries, and conduct fault analysis, research and resolve weaknesses in the entire flow of data. Finally, you will write documentation, including functional specifications, user’s guides and operations guides.

Qualifications:

We require a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related major course of study, and up to 5 year’s of experience in programming and/or software development. Recent graduates with hand-on C++ and Java programming in Linux are welcome to apply.
Experienced candidates must have strong knowledge of and professional experience with C++ and Java programming on Linux; knowledge of at least one scripting language (PHP, Tcl, perl, bash, etc); experience in programming client/server systems and in dealing with network reports; ability to work with minimum supervision; successful track record in a team approach to software development; willingness to take initiative and have the flexibility to work in a dynamic environment; strong verbal and written communication skills. Finally, it is essential that you demonstrate a willingness to continue to develop your technical expertise.
