Statistical Analytics Manager
Summary:
The incumbent will be a senior statistician with significant financial services experience who will be responsible for leading the statistical analytics area for Genworth’s Lifestyle Protection business. This will include setting up new methodology and building new processes in the areas of consumer segmentation, risk based pricing and database marketing modelling. The role will have to manage interfaces with external data warehousing and data mining providers with a focus on technical peer-review of their modelling and output. The candidate should also be prepared to hire and train new staff as these capabilities are progressively brought in-house. The role will report into Lifestyle Protection Underwriting Leader and be based in London
Responsibilities:
• Understand and validate the role of statistical analytics in Genworth’s telemarketing and overall business model o Identify and own the key analytic deliverables that impact profit • Own the Marketing segmentation and targeting guidelines for the business o Assess and benchmark the capabilities of the external data mining providers o Act as technical peer-reviewer of their output or recommendations o Propose changes or improvements as needed to control impact on Genworth’s profit • Understand the Insurance Risk analytics done to date within Genworth o Develop a risk based pricing or segmentation template based on the above analytics o Formulate a Risk targeting strategy and Devise a method to overlay it on the Marketing models o Own the combined Risk/Marketing Analytics consumer targeting plan • Work with commercial and technical teams in the branch offices to understand the portfolios of key clients across Europe (banks & financial houses) o Lead discussions with prospective new clients from an analytics perspective identifying their database needs and capabilities that Genworth can address • Measure and Report on the success of the Risk/Marketing analytics strategy across existing or new clients

Analytics Strategy - Developing analytical strategies across consumer and corporate portfolios to maximise profit and effectively manage insurance risk - Providing analytic and strategic support on marketing activity across client relationships for product diversification and volatility reduction
Modelling - Building statistical models to mitigate insurance risk, and acquire profitable new business - Propensity and risk modelling of marketing campaigns to identify high-potential market segments to acquire, whilst optimising return of investment - Targeting profitable portfolio segments for acquisition and retention initiatives to increase market share - Identifying high risk customers through data mining and statistical modelling on portfolio data – enhance existing behavioural models
Client Contact, Project Management & Data Access - Negotiating with clients on data accessibility and the implementation of projects - Building relations with external clients and managing delivery across internal stakeholders in risk management, IT, compliance or marketing - Profiling and segmenting the consumer base by leveraging internal & external data sources
Management Information Reports - Developing, maintaining, and distributing reports and finance forecasts for tracking campaigns and strategies.
Skills / Qualifications:
Essential - Degree educated statistician with significant experience in data analytics and statistical modelling - Either: Expertise in consumer risk modelling and in insurance or banking or credit cards Or: Expertise in Database Marketing statistical disciplines: warehousing, data mining, modelling (response and conversion models in TM/DM, etc) - Expert in statistical techniques such as logistic regressions, GLM, segmentation - Demonstrated Project delivery skills in a matrix environment with internal and external stakeholders - Ability to communicate technical concepts to wider audience - Advanced knowledge of SAS Programming / SAS Enterprise Guide / SAS Enterprise Miner
Preferred - Masters or PhD educated statistician - Additional European languages - Exposure to both Risk and Marketing modelling disciplines - Business minded, Profit aware - SAS Institute qualifications - Prior exposure to General Insurance Pricing
